Friday Night Sew In Results

Last night was Friday Night Sew In and I managed to get 'Tweet' finished.  Tweet is part of the 'Hooty & Tweet' pattern by Melly & Me.  I have made this one a few times now and I think they are very sweet.

First day of school & the Fiesta bag

Well - the kids have been back at school for a week now and are starting to settle into the routine.  My son started prep this year and has been so excited about being a big school boy.  It has been a big change for him and his sister as now she has her little brother at school too.
Here they both are ready for their first day at school.

I have also been very busy sewing and getting ready for our local Makers Market next month.  So I have heaps of things in various stages of completion!  I will show you once I have them finished.    I am also going to Melbourne for a day next week and needed a new handbag in certain colours to take, so I made the 'Fiesta' bag up over the last couple of days. 

It is a Melly & Me design from her Kaleidoscope book.  It is a great design and has a nice big zip along the top so nothing can fall out.  It is also very roomy so can fit quite a lot in it too.  I love being able to make up a bag in the exact colours and style that I like.  I love the fact that it makes it unique and my kind of bag.  I can see this bag will quickly become a favourite of mine and it is already holding everything I need in it!

A+ Skirt

I finally made myself a skirt using a 'Make it Perfect'  A+ Skirt pattern that I'd had sitting in my sewing cupboard for months.  I also had the material sitting there waiting for all that time too - but had always had other projects that needed to be done first.  Anyway - I finally got around to making it - and I just love it!  The pattern was fantastic - easy to follow and easy to make.  The skirt is very comfy to wear and fits perfectly too. (Sorry - didn't get around to taking photos of it!)   So I decided to make up another one for my daughter.  She picked out this cute apple print fabric from my local patchwork shop (Riviera Patchwork)and I made it up for her today.  We had a little fun doing a fashion shoot once I finished it.

I didn't have to adjust the pattern very much as it goes from a 3x small size to 2x large size (8 sizes in total).  So I just made her the 3x small size and took a little off the length.  She loves it and so do I.  Will defiantly make us both more of these skirts and they can be made up in an afternoon too. 
I also made another library bag this morning for my friends daughter.  She is also starting school with my son this year and so now she has a pretty library bag to take to school with her.

Friday Night Sew In Results

This is what I made for the Friday Night Sew In.  It's a library bag for my son for when he starts school in a couple of weeks.  Still can't believe my little boy is going to school this year!  Wow - time does fly by. 



The fabric is from spotlight and has pirates and pirate ships and pirate treasure on it.  Very boyish!  My son must think it alright too as he's been carrying it around with books in it today.  Click on this link to see what the others have been up to for Friday Night Sew In.

Springtime Melody

This is something I made last week.  It's called 'Springtime Melody' by Natalie Ross.  This is one of her new small pattern ranges and so is half the price of a normal pattern too. 

I thought this cute little bag would be perfect for my daughter's friend's 7th birthday.  My daughter helped pick out the pattern and the fabric for it.  It has a cute little bird stitchery which I did while the kids did swimming lessons last week, and I made the bag up in an afternoon.  Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to make a cute little gift for someone of any age.

Kids Christmas Presents

I thought I would show you a couple of things I made for the kids for Christmas.  They both had asked a couple of months before Christmas if I could make them each another toy - but with all the Christmas madness I ended up leaving it to the last week before Christmas to make them!  But luckily I finished them off in time for Christmas day.  This is Tilly the doll that I made for my daughter. 

She is from the gorgeous book 'Sewn Toy Tales' by Melly & Me.  I made her from the new 'Woodland' fabrics by Natalie Lymer of  Cinderberry Stitches and my daughter just loves her. 
My son asked for another 'Little Ninga' so he could fight it against his other Little Ninga I had already made him.  He went with me to Spotlight and picked out the fabric himself.

This is also a Melly & Me pattern and one I have used quite a few times.  My son just loved it and immediately got out his other Ninga and had them fight together!

A roundup of projects for 2011

I thought I would look back at all the projects I have done in 2011.  Wow - when I look back there are more than I thought!  So here's a little look at all the projects I have done last year. 

Some of these also include some projects that I helped my daughter & son make and also some projects that I did with the kindergarten & school kids.  I have participated in a few swaps this year which has been fun and also released my first patterns this year too.  So it has been quite a big year for me last year and I have really enjoyed it.  It was my son's last year of kindergarten - so he's going to be a big school boy this year.  So that is a little sad as I have been a kinder mum for the last 4 years.  I'm sure there will be a few tears shed when he starts school.  This year ahead will be a busy one but I hope a good one too.

Christmas Gifts

Last night was the last Friday Night Sew In for the year and I managed to get another Christmas Gift finished off.  So here it is - another Tiny Token Gift Bag. 

I also finished these Christmas Birds off earlier in the week too. 

I can now also show you what I send my partner in The Great Global Christmas Swap.  This is a Sweet Box (which I filled with chocolates!) designed by Red Brolly.  I also sent her one of my Santa's Little Helpers' patterns and also a stitchery design by Rosalie Quinlan. 

I have really enjoyed making these Christmas Gifts.  It really gets you into the whole spirit of Christmas - although at times I didn't think I would get everything finished on time!  But that just adds to all the excitement of Christmas - doesn't it!  I still have two more gifts to finish off - and these are for my kids.  I have a week left - so I'm pretty sure I should get them done, as one just requires stuffing and the other is all prepared and ready for sewing.  How are you all going with your Christmas preparations?

Tiny Token Gift Bags

For the Friday Night Sew In last night I worked on a few christmas gifts and one that I managed to finish was a Tiny Token Gift Bag. 

This is from Natalie Ross's book 'Get red red ready for Christmas'. So one gift finished and I still have a few more to go!  Hopefully I'll get them finished in time for Christmas.

Friday Night Sew In

Ok - so it's that time again - the Friday Night Sew In! 

They are holding two this month so we can all get our projects finished in time for Christmas.  The first one will be this Friday night (the 9th of Dec) and Friday the 16th of December.  So come on, join in on Friday night and get some of your Christmas projects done!

Clucky

Here's another softie I finished just yesterday.  Her name is Clucky and she is a Melly & Me design. 

I do love her is these bright fabrics.  I think they really suit her.  I think the lawn needs cutting though - I could loose her chicks in there it's that long!  We've had so much rain lately that the grass has gone mad.  You cut it and it seems to grow overnight - it's hard to keep up with it. 

Here are a few other things I've made recently.  These lolly bags are a great idea and so I just had to make up a few.  I thought I'd make some more for our Christmas Stall at school.  They make great little gifts for those little and not so little people!  Also would make great party bags for kids parties.  They are a designed by Monica Solorio-Snow from Happy Zombie.  You can find the pattern HERE.

These are some more of my Christmas Birds I made too.  They are great Christmas decorations and are quick and easy to make.  Also make great little gifts too.  I made a tutorial for these last year - so if you want the pattern and steps on how to make it you can find the link on the right hand side of this page.

FNSI Results

Well I didn't get alot done for the Friday Night Sew In last night.  I was helping with the shearing of my parents Alpacas yesterday so was pretty tired last night.  It was also a really hot day yesterday which didn't help either.  But we got all the Alpacas finished and so they will all now be alot cooler for Summer. 
So we ended up getting Fish & Chips for tea, and then once the kids went to bed I sat down in front of the TV with my stitchery project.  I have shown you this one before and I haven't really done alot on it since.  So I managed to get another fairy nearly finished - just needs her face & hair done and some detail on her dress.

This is a Cinderberry Stitches design and it is free from the Lecien website.  It's called Flower Sugar Woodland Faeries.

A very busy weekend!

Well I thought I would share another couple of things with you as it has been a very busy weekend!  My son actually shares his birthday with his dad (he still says that when Max was born it was the best birthday present he ever got!).  So we also celebrated my wonderful husband's birthday too over the weekend.  So here he is with both the kids about to blow out his candles. 

 Also we added a new member to our little family over the weekend - and her name is Mittens. 

I surprised the kids and we picked her up at lunchtime on Sunday (they thought we weren't going to get her for another couple of days) and we brought her home.  She is everything that a kitten should be - full of beans and very naughty but also just adorable.  She is 3 months old and we adopted her from the pound.  It has been about 7 years since I last had a cat and now that she is with us I am just loving every minute of it!  I really missed not having a cat around the house.  I have been sewing this morning and she has been 'helping' me with the fabrics and treads and has been very curious about everything I have been doing.  She certainly does bring a smile to my face.
